Through the Seasons and Over the Years

Through the Seasons and Over the Years

Architectural Details

This antique chandelier in the Dining Room was in the house when we bought it and was painted white. It is an example of an early electric fixture - 100% original (including wiring and ceramic sockets). Mario gently brushed and cleaned over 80 hours to get it to it's current state and 25 years later the brass has a lovely patina. The hand blown glass pendants are one-of-a-kind!

Between the Dining Room and the Kitchen is the original swing door. Nothing has changed over the years but a coat of fresh paint.

Between the kitchen and the sunroom is the reclaimed brick chimney. Covered up for many years, the red brick was given a facelift and painted to match the walls. A beautiful tin ceiling was added in both rooms then painted white with crown mouldings completing the trim.

The house features 34 matching solid wood Cross and Bible windows that have been meticulously maintained. We love to boast that these are among the few heritage windows in Brooklin that have survived into the 21st century.

Detail showing the storm windows attached.

The main hallway and upstairs hallway feature original push-button first generation electric light switches. These switches are quite rare and are in great working condition. The copper wiring has been updated making this a perfect blend of old and new technology.
